THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER (nº2)

THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER

YOU SEE THINGS. YOU UNDERSTAND, AND YOU KEEP QUIET ABOUT THEM. YOU ARE A WALLFLOWER.

The perks of being a wallflower is one of my favorite books. It is written by Stephen Chbosky, and the film's director is him as well.

I could say that this book is very dificult to understand, because is goes very deep on the people's feeligs and minds, and also it adresses very devastating issues with a lot of normality.

THE CHARACTERS

CHARLIE (Logan Lerman)

He is a 15 years old teenager. His best friend, Michael, has commited suicide. He is very shy, and doesn't talk too much. He often likes to listen people while they are talking. He wants to be a writer, but he doesn't know what to write about. He felt in love with Sam, but she is three years older than him. He goes to the pschicologist, because he feels guilty of his aunt's death.

SAM (Emma Watson)

Sam is 18 years old. She is a very kind girl, lovely and always want to help others. She have a lot of problems with boys, and some things on her past that is worth to forget. Sam doesn't know if she is in love with Charlie, or not...

PATRICK (Ezra Miller)

Patrick is Sam's stepbrother. He is gay, and he is other boy's boyfriend, but the other boy doesn't want anybody to know. Because of this, he have got his heart broken more than one time.Patrick is Charlie's best friend, and they understand each other very well.He loes taking part on The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

THE STORY

This story tells us the life of a teenager, called Charlie. He narrates the story by letters that he writes, but the reader don't know who is the addressee. Charlie is very reserved, quiet, and on the school he haven't got any friend. One day,on a football match, he knew Patrick and Sam. They changed his life forever...

Charlie's life is not as easy as it seems. He have got a brother, that is on the university, and is s football star; and a sister, that is very good student, but have got many problems with her boyfriend, that don't trate her well. His mother is a very strong woman, that has fight for taking her family along. His father is always working, and he is as quiet as Charlie.
When Charlie, Sam and Patrick met, they  invited him to a party. There, he knew all the other friends: Mary Elizabeth (She talks A LOT and she is very fighter), Alice (She likes stealing in the shops for feeling naughty), Bob, Brad (Patrick's boyfriend) Craig (Sam's boyfriend), and Peter (Mary Elizabeth's boyfriend).
With them, Charlie had his first experience with drugs and alcohol, but also with love, friendship, and the most important: He had his first experience as feeling part of a group.
As I mentioned before, Charlie wanted to be a writer. His literature teacher, Bill, always gives him special homework and books to read, because he thinks that Charlie is very special.

The winter pass, and they always had the same routine: They go to see Pat and Sam on The Rocky Horror Picture Show, then, dinner at the Big boy's (a restaurant), and, every friday, a party. They pass very good moments, but also some very bad. Sam kissed Charlie, Patrick was depressed and drunk because of his problems with Brad, Mary Elizabeth was Chalie's girlfriend (when the broked, Charlie had to ''break'' with the group for a week), Craig deceived Sam, and he had troubles with his family.

When the winter ended, it was Charlie's more dreaded moment: Sam, Patrick, and his sister are going to university. He will be alone! He was very sad, but he had to let them go, let them build their new lives, because, as he said, things change, and friends leave, and life doesn't stop for anybody. At the end, they found the root of Charlie's schhizophrenia: His aunt, abused of him when he was a child. Charlie did not deserved that. Charlie only wanted to feel infinite on the car with Sam and Pat, read Kill a nightingale (one of his favorite books), love, and be loved.

WE ACCEPT THE LOVE WE THINK WE DESERVE

Sometimes life isn't perfect. Life is like a chocolate's box... you never know what you are going to get.
Charlie's life wasn't perfect, but at the end he got his piece of hapiness because...

IN THAT MOMENT,I SWEAR WE WERE INFINITE

NB: I Haven't explained too many things about the anecdotes during the winter bacause I didn't wanted to ruin the book to anybody...
