THE FAULT IN OUR STAR BY JOHN GREEN

'The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, / But in ourselves, that we are underlings.'-

                                                                                                      William Shakespeare

Hazel Grace Lancaster is a 16-years-old-girl with stage IV thyroid cancer on her lungs. Hazel barely left the house or eat; she is always on her bed, reading the same book and thinking about death. Her mother thinks that Hazel is depressed, so take her to a help group for kids with cancer. Hazel don’t really want to go because it doesn’t help her, but she want her parents to be happy because “there is only one thing in this world shittier than biting it from cancer when you’re sixteen, and that’s having a kid who bites it from cancer.''

So every week, Hazel has to go to an episcopal church where Patrick, a man who has gone through cancer, leads the support group in the cellar of the church. Her only friend in the support group is Isaac, a guy who has lost one of his eyes to cancer.
One day, Isaac brought a friend, Augustus Waters, to the group. and introduced him to Hazel. Augustus ask Hazel to go to his place to watch V for Vendetta since he thinks Hazel looks like Hazel in that movie and she has not see it. Hazel agree because her mother always ask her to make new friends.
In Augustus' house they begin to talk about their lives, their hobbies and their cancersHazel aggres to read one of Augustus' favourites books if he reads An Imperial Affliction by Peter van Houten, the favourite book of Hazel.
This is how this story begins; it's not a story about cancer or love, but a story about two teens who know that their days are counted.
This book can make you laugh in the funny moments, cry in the saddest parts and, above all, make you think about differents issues of our lives such as illness, family, friendship or death.
I think Jonh Green has made a wonderful book well told, with good characters and  truly meaning. The book has reach #1 in some important charts and been translated into 10 lenguages from aroud the world.
The movie rights have been optioned by Fox 2000 and the movie adaptation is hitting theatres the next summer with Ansel Elgort as Augustus and Shailene Woodley as Hazel, so make sure you read the book before!
