The new seven Wonders of the world

In the world there are a lot of interesting things to learn and place to visit  with a different stories or cultures for each landmark of countries, so I want to tell you some interesting places that are visited by a lot of people recently. There are the following:
  • The Taj Mahal, India.
The Taj Mahal is the most representative monument of India , is considered World Heritage by UNESCO and is one of the new wonders of the modern world. It is located in the city of Agra, ontaj-mahal-agra the banks of river Yamuna , and contrary to what it seems , is not one building, but a set of them. It has managed to attract much attention of thousands of visitors for its beauty and its romantic character . This romance is due to the story behind its construction : the mighty emperor Shah Jahan had a wife named Mumtaz Mahal, with whom he had 14 children , but in the last birth she died and disconsolate Emperor built this monument so posthumously offering. In fact , the name " Taj Mahal " is translated as " crown Mahal " . Incorporates architectural influences of Arabs , Persia and India, and is considered the finest example of ancient Mongolian architecture . The predominant structural element is the white marble building has a height of 60 meters and the main dome is 20 meters in diameter. The building process lasted about 22 years. One of the strengths is its perfect symmetry , which is highlighted through the reflection of the building on the water front lawn. According to the BBC received over 3,000,000 visits in 2004 , a figure that is increasing as the years passed .
That is why they decided to restore during 2008 to resume its initial brightness . It was built between 1631 and 1654.

  • The Coliseum, Rome.
The Coliseum is the main symbol of Rome, an imposing building that is almost 2,000 years old , will take you back in time to discover how ancient society was the Roman Empire.Visiting the Colosseum. Construction of the Colosseum began in 72 under the regime of Vespasian and completed in 80 AD during the reign of Emperor Titus. Upon completion of construction the Coliseum became the largest Roman amphitheater , with dimensions of 188 meters long , 156 meters wide and 57 meters high.The Colosseum in Antiquity:
 
During the Roman Empire , under the slogan of "Pan et Circus" , the Roman Coliseum (then Coliseo de Romaknown as Flavian Amphitheatre) allowed over 50,000 people to enjoy their favorite shows.
Samples of exotic animals , executions of prisoners , reenactments of battles and gladiator fights for years accompanied the Roman people.
 
The Colosseum remained in service for over 500 years. The last games were celebrated history in the sixth century .From the sixth century the Colosseum suffered looting , earthquakes and even bombings during World War II .
With a great survival instinct, the Colosseum was used for decades as a store , church, cemetery and even as a castle for the nobility .
 
The Colosseum in the news, currently the Coliseum , along with the Vatican, the biggest tourist attraction in Rome. Every year is visited by 6 million tourists .
The July 7, 2007 Coliseum became one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World.

    Curiosities:
 
The original name " Flavian Amphitheater " was replaced by the Colosseum because of the great statue of Nero that was located at the entrance to the Domus Aurea, " The Colossus of Nero."
The Domus Aurea was a large palace built under the orders of Nero after the fire of Rome.The emperor Titus opened the Colosseum with 100 days of games, which cost the lives of more than 2,000 gladiators .The Colosseum had a canvas roof to protect people from the sun. Under the machinery arena and cages were placed.There are several theories about the Colosseum was filled with water to represent naval battles , though so far there has been no conclusive research .
 
Every Good Friday the Pope presides over the Via Crucis at the Colosseum. It has always been very attached to the old place and this day reminds the early Christians who died in the arena.



  •  The great wall of China, China.

The Great Wall of China is the only visible human construction from Space, clearly, one of the most important places to visit for any tourist. It is an ancient Chinese building dating from the V century . C., but then there were 4 major renovations : in 208 a. C. by the Qin Dynasty, during the first century AD by the Han dynasty, between 1138 and 1198 in the period of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms , and the last in 1368 by the Ming dynasty. Its area is 7,300 km long , has 7 to 8 meters in height and a base of 5 to 6 meters wide. Aimed to protect the northern borders of China from attacks by the nomadic tribes of Mongolia and Manchuria. Not prevent attacks on foot but was valid to stop armed chivalry. The materials used to create their are abounding around construction. It is equipped with a series of gates , barracks and watchtowers , the latter were built by the Han Dynasty are well preserved for tourism but the wall is in poor condition in many places due to erosion part , serving here as source rocks, and are prone to graffiti and vandalism. In 1987 UNESCO declared World Heritage Site and is officially one of the 7 wonders of the world.

  • The statue of Cristo Redentor or Christ Corovado, Brazil.
The statue of Cristo Redentor or Christ Corcovado is situated 709 meters above sea level in the city of Rio de Janeiro , Brazil, specifically at the top of Corcovado Mountain . It has a total height of 30 meters. It was inaugurated on October 12, 1931 , after about five years of work . The idea of ​​a religious monument in Rio was first suggested in 1859 by Father Pedro Maria Boss and Princess Isabel . The idea was revived in 1921 when approached by commemorating the centenary of Independence. The foundation stone for the statue was laid on April 4, 1922 and the works were started in 1926. Among others who contributed to the realization can be cited engineers Heitor da Silva Costa ( author of the project ) , the artist Carlos Oswald (author of the original design of the monument ) and the French sculptor Paul Landowski (executor of the head and hands of sculpture) .The reinforced concrete construction , over 1000 tons combines engineering, architecture and sculpture, and has among its achievements the fact that nobody died in accidents during construction , which was unusual at the time and with projects of this size.
  • Machu Picchu, Peru.
It was discovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911, said that his discovery was by chance because what he was really looking for was the city of Vilcabamba , the last refuge of the Incas and last point of resistance against españoles.No were many people living in the citadel, perhaps no more than about 200 or 300.The location of the citadel of Machu Picchu is definitely one of the biggest attractions in the area since geographically the location of the citadel is concentrated in particular Huatanay Valley River east of the depression formed by the mountain ranges Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu in the Central Andes south of the country, on the eastern slopes of the Cordillera Vilcanota just 120 kilometers from the city of Cuzco . The district of Machu Picchu is located within the county boundaries of the town of Urubamba, in the province of Cuzco . Machu Picchu is located northwest of the city of Cuzco separated by just 110 miles away. The geographical location is determined by the angular coordinates that place it exactly in the position whose latitude and longitude are respectively 13 ' and 23'' 72 ' 34'' in the western globe , west of the Greenwich meridian ; in terms of their location relative to sea level , this city stood a very high headroom , exactly at 2450 meters above sea level , although the highest point of the citadel though is the Central Plaza of Machu Picchu , which is located at 2490 meter above the sea level.
  • Petra, Jordan.

In the present kingdom of Jordan, on the edge of the western civilized world , are the ruins of the ancient city of Petra " STONE ", a term that does not appear to refer to a city, but an element of the mineral kingdom.
What we call ' Petra ' is just a ciudad.De the city that was the capital of a kingdom of Nabatean nomads are almost no structures built today , nor many ruins of walls and public buildings . We could say that Petra is not, since it is the landscape and not its citizens visible structures.Petra is a circle of rocks roses , orange, yellow , changing pitch every moment as the sun changes position in the sky. The name Petra means rock in Greek. Petra is located in a narrow valley , east of the Arava Valley , about 80 miles south of the Dead Sea. The most important of Petra is undoubtedly its buildings carved into the rock of the valley , especially the buildings known as the Treasury and the Temple of the Winged Lions.The December 6, 1985 , Petra was recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.Desde the July 7, 2007 , Petra is one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. 
  • El Chichen Itza, Mexico.
 The archaeological site of Chichen Itza is the best preserved and impressive ancient Maya civilization. The inhabitants built several buildings during the Preclassic and Classic periods which are superior to similar buildings elsewhere. The great Mayan city of Chichen Itza, had its boom years of the late Classical and early Postclassic period (800-1100 d. C. ) . It was the biggest northern Yucatan Mayan political , religious and military center .It is located in a wide plain halfway between Merida and Cancun to the north of the Yucatán Peninsula , in the town of TINUM ; It is one of the largest and richest in monuments of Mexico archaeological sites .Chichen Itza means "at the mouth of the well of the Itza ", its name is because the city was built around the Sacred Cenote , a large pit that was believed to be the entrance to the underworld . This region also numerous other caves and cenotes were , which provided water .
 
Since 1988 is a World Heritage Site and today it stands proud to be named one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World

    I didn't know exactly which are the seven wonders of the world, until now. Today I have discovered the most beautiful things built by man, thanks to you. Although I have only visited one of them (the Coliseum) I will try to visit all of them as soon as I can.
